Working in San Diego

Two hours south, built for the shows that justify the trip

San Diego runs one of the busiest convention calendars in the country, and a corporate build there is where our 2-day structure fits best. The truck comes south once, the crew builds and signs off on Day 1, the gear holds overnight at 1.5x the day rate, and Day 2 is show and strike. For a multi-day general session, a convention-week client event or a sales kickoff at a bayfront hotel, that one trip does a lot of work, and the delivery line is a small share of the scope.

The venues split into three kinds. The Convention Center, with its dock windows, drayage and show-labor rules, where the full 23' x 13' wall is the right size for a general session. The bayfront and Gaslamp hotels, whose ballrooms have the rigging points and height to fly the wall and whose freight elevators set the load-in timeline. And the campuses along the 5 from La Jolla to Carlsbad, where biotech and tech all-hands want a clean stage, a ground-stacked 16' x 9' wall and presenter audio that works on the stream.

We are honest about fit: for a small single-day meeting, a local vendor may serve you better and we'll say so. For the shows above, you get the same crew, the same owned inventory and the same CAD/3D render in your venue as our Los Angeles clients.

Venues & Rooms

What San Diego venues mean for the build

Each venue type below changes the rigging, the labor lines and the load-in schedule. Tell us the room and the scope reflects it.

  • San Diego Convention CenterDock windows, drayage and show-labor rules. General-session stages with the full wall flown or ground-stacked, breakout rooms with smaller walls, labor itemized in the quote.
  • Bayfront & Gaslamp hotelsThe Marriott Marquis, Hilton Bayfront, Manchester Grand Hyatt and the Gaslamp hotels: large ballrooms with rigging points, freight elevators that set the timeline, and convention-week schedules that fill up early.
  • La Jolla, UTC & Carlsbad campusesBiotech, tech and defense auditoriums and all-hands rooms along the 5: ground-stacked 16' x 9' walls, SDI to the house or the stream encoder, presenter audio sized for 100–500 seats.
  • Coronado, Del Mar & the resortsIncentive programs, executive retreats and awards dinners on resort lawns and terraces: wind-rated structure for the ocean breeze, generator or distro power, and brightness set for sunset sessions.
  • Mission Bay, Petco Park & outdoor sitesCustomer events, fan zones and brand activations on waterfront and stadium-adjacent sites: the full wall on its own structure, line arrays for an open-air crowd, power planned from the site or a generator.
What's Included

Everything the show needs to run

Every turnkey scope ships as a complete system, not a parts list. Add or remove elements to fit the venue and the budget.

LED video wall

3.9mm pixel pitch, seamless tiles, up to 112 tiles for a wall of roughly 23' x 13'. Ground-stacked or flown, NovaStar processing, HDMI/SDI inputs. Smaller configurations such as 16' x 9' or 12' x 7' available.

Staging

Modular risers, 24' x 8' x 2' in the standard configuration (12 decks), reconfigurable to the room. Black skirting and steps included.

Line-array audio

Four line-array elements plus two 18" subs and a digital mixer, sized for keynotes, panels and full-room playback. Wireless lapel and handheld mics for presenters.

Lighting

Moving-head fixtures on truss for stage wash and keynote looks, plus 16–24 wireless LED uplights to color the room to the brand.

A1 / V1 technicians

A dedicated audio lead and video lead on site for every shift. They calibrate, operate and troubleshoot so your producer never has to touch a cable.

Run-of-show and calibration

A written load-in and show timeline before the build, and a full power-on, test-pattern and audio-sweep check before doors open on show day.

Delivery and transport to San Diego is quoted by distance from our Los Angeles warehouse, about two hours each way, and shown as its own line. On a 2-day or multi-day build it is a small share of the scope because the truck comes south once and the gear holds overnight at 1.5x the day rate. Convention-center drayage or labor, where a venue requires it, is itemized separately. Everything else in the itemized 2-day example applies unchanged.

How It Works

From scope to strike, in four steps

  1. Scope

Share the venue, dates, audience size and what the show needs. We reply within one business day with a scope and a quote.

  2. Render & lock

We produce a CAD/3D render of the stage, wall and PA in your venue for your client deck. A 50% deposit locks the dates and reserves the inventory.

  3. Build & calibrate

Day 1 load-in, build, test patterns, audio sweep and client sign-off. Day 2 power-on and full pre-show calibration before doors.

  4. Show & strike

A1 and V1 run the show from the booth. When the last guest leaves, we strike, load out and leave the room the way we found it.

FAQ

Questions San Diego producers ask before they book

Is it worth bringing a production crew from Los Angeles to San Diego?

For a 2-day or multi-day build, a convention-week event, a general session or a sales kickoff, yes: the delivery line is a small share of the scope and you get one crew, owned gear and one quote. For a small single-day meeting it may not be, and we'll tell you.

Can you work at the San Diego Convention Center?

Yes. We build the Center's dock windows, drayage and show-labor rules into the schedule and the quote once we have the exhibitor kit or your stage plan, and we itemize the labor so it's a visible line.

How does the overnight hold work at a bayfront hotel?

Day 1 is load-in through the dock in the hotel's window, build, test patterns and audio sweep, then your walkthrough and sign-off. The gear stays installed overnight at 1.5x the day rate; overnight security responsibility is written into the agreement. Day 2 is power-on and calibration before doors, the show, then strike and load-out on the hotel's schedule.

Do you work under our agency's brand on site?

Yes. Our crew works white-label under your brand, and the CAD/3D render of the build in the venue is yours to drop into the client proposal before anyone signs.

Can you build a stage on a lawn in Coronado or Del Mar?

Yes. Outdoor coastal builds get a site check and rigging review: wind loading on the wall structure, generator or distro power, cable runs and the sun angle during the session. We plan around all of it in the scope.

How is a 2-day San Diego build priced?

Gear at 1.5x the day rate for the overnight hold, technician labor per shift, delivery quoted by distance, plus any venue-driven labor lines. Typical 2-day builds land $12,500–$16,500 before the delivery line.
