Working on the Westside

Agencies, studios and tech campuses, with the beach in the background

The Westside is where many of Los Angeles' agencies, studios and tech companies live, and its venues reward planning. The oceanfront hotels in Santa Monica have the ballrooms and terraces, with freight elevators, residential neighbors and tight parking that set the load-in window. Barker Hangar and the airport-adjacent spaces take the full wall and a real stage with room to spare. Culver City and Playa Vista's studio stages and tech campuses bring their own production culture: clean signal, IMAG and a wall that looks right on camera as well as in the room.

Parking and noise are the two things we settle first. Santa Monica and the beach cities enforce quiet hours and strict loading rules; we schedule load-in and strike inside them and plan where the truck lives. Outdoor sound is planned to the venue's limits so the show never gets shut down.

The Westside is inside our LA-area flat delivery rate. The 2-day structure is the same as everywhere: build and sign-off on Day 1, overnight hold at 1.5x the gear rate, show and strike on Day 2.

What Westside venues mean for the build

Each venue type below changes the rigging, the labor lines and the load-in schedule. Tell us the room and the scope reflects it.

What's Included

Everything the show needs to run

Every turnkey scope ships as a complete system, not a parts list. Add or remove elements to fit the venue and the budget.

LED video wall

3.9mm pixel pitch, seamless tiles, up to 112 tiles for a wall of roughly 23' x 13'. Ground-stacked or flown, NovaStar processing, HDMI/SDI inputs. Smaller configurations such as 16' x 9' or 12' x 7' available.

Staging

Modular risers, 24' x 8' x 2' in the standard configuration (12 decks), reconfigurable to the room. Black skirting and steps included.

Line-array audio

Four line-array elements plus two 18" subs and a digital mixer, sized for keynotes, panels and full-room playback. Wireless lapel and handheld mics for presenters.

Lighting

Moving-head fixtures on truss for stage wash and keynote looks, plus 16–24 wireless LED uplights to color the room to the brand.

A1 / V1 technicians

A dedicated audio lead and video lead on site for every shift. They calibrate, operate and troubleshoot so your producer never has to touch a cable.

Run-of-show and calibration

A written load-in and show timeline before the build, and a full power-on, test-pattern and audio-sweep check before doors open on show day.

Santa Monica, Culver City, Playa Vista, Century City and Beverly Hills are inside our LA-area flat delivery rate, so there is no distance line. What can appear on a Westside quote is venue-driven: hotel dock fees or labor where a property requires it, a parking plan for the truck, or a permit for a beach or pier site. We itemize each so your client sees exactly where the money goes.

How It Works

From scope to strike, in four steps

  1. Scope

Share the venue, dates, audience size and what the show needs. We reply within one business day with a scope and a quote.

  2. Render & lock

We produce a CAD/3D render of the stage, wall and PA in your venue for your client deck. A 50% deposit locks the dates and reserves the inventory.

  3. Build & calibrate

Day 1 load-in, build, test patterns, audio sweep and client sign-off. Day 2 power-on and full pre-show calibration before doors.

  4. Show & strike

A1 and V1 run the show from the booth. When the last guest leaves, we strike, load out and leave the room the way we found it.

FAQ

Questions Westside producers ask before they book

How do you handle Santa Monica's quiet hours and loading rules?

We schedule load-in and strike inside the venue's and the city's windows, plan where the truck parks for the length of the event, and set outdoor sound to the venue's limits. It's settled in the scope, not discovered on the day.

Can the full wall go into Barker Hangar?

Yes, and it's one of the best rooms in the city for it: dock access, height and floor space for the 23' x 13' wall, a 24' stage and flown line arrays. We'll render it in the hangar's layout with the quote.

Does your wall look right on camera for a streamed all-hands?

Yes. The NovaStar processor takes SDI and HDMI, we feed the house switcher or your stream encoder, and the V1 sets brightness and color for camera as well as for the room. Tell us the stream setup on the scope form.

Do you work under our agency's brand on site?

Yes. Our crew works white-label under your brand, and the CAD/3D render of the build in the venue is yours for the client deck.

What about a beach or pier activation?

Outdoor coastal builds get a site check: wind loading on the structure, generator power and cable runs, sand and salt protection for the gear, and the permit the site requires. We plan around all of it in the scope.

How is a 2-day Westside build priced?

Gear at 1.5x the day rate for the overnight hold, technician labor per shift, the LA-area flat delivery rate, plus any venue-driven labor or permit lines. Typical 2-day builds land $12,500–$16,500.
